Yeh Mumbai Shahar…
Long ago a movie was released that carried the title song which goes like this
Yeh Mumbai Shahar Haadason ka Shahar hai,
Yahaan Zindagi Haadason ka Safar hai,
Yahaan Roz Roz har Mod Mod pe hota hai koi na koi…
… Haadasaa…
This translates to :
This Mumbai City is a City of Accidents,
The life here is a Drive of Accidents,
Here Everyday at every Corner happens one or another…
… Accident…
You know why? See the picture below… and the Zebra Crossing… This is a road opposite to Nirlon Complex, Goregaon (East) that runs parallel to the Western Express Highway for a short length and meets the Highway a few meters from the location in the pic. Vehicles move at very high speeds on this road especially in the mornings.
A couple of months ago there was no Zebra crossing here and people alighting from public vehicles crossed the road randomly. The Zebra crossing was made here and signals were installed to ensure safety of pedestrians.
Currently the signal stands forced broken, the vehicle enjoy seamless driving for they don’t require to stop here. Pedestrians wait for minutes thinking the vehicles will stop at some point of time, and when it’s more than enough they start crossing but the vehicle keep on moving…
When will the signal start operating again? What is the administration waiting for? Another… you know what!
