Randy Pausch Health Update

with 35 comments

I was shocked to see term “Randy Pausch Death” on the Google Trends. So was it all over? As per his health updates, it seemed unlikely and thus I searched Google News and found the trends to be for rumours.

Those who wish to get the latest updates please access his Health Update Page instead of searching on Google.

I found a very cute page where Randy was taking care of the three kids at Home when his wife was out in Spain. Randy here posted a few pics of there activity that day. Most humorous pic is the one where Randy is with the children holding a newspaper. The pic is titled “The Kids are Still Alive” and description on side says

Any hostage taker worth his salt knows you need to send a photo with today’s newspaper to prove the hostages are still alive.

  1. You didn’t really think he had died did you? I’ll bet that Randy Pausch has many, many years left to live.

  3. Why were the July pictures of Randy and kids not on his health update? Nothing has been posted there since June. Those of us watching his health situation get somewhat alarmed when postings go for weeks with no news and the July pictures were so great.

  4. Those July photos of Randy and the children are from last year (2007, not 2008). His most recent post on his home page said that he would be publishing some Fathers’ Day photos from last month soon, but they aren’t out yet. He doesn’t post quite as frequently as in the past; he indicates that rebounding from his May chemo is slower and harder than before. His most recent posts indicate that, unfortunately, things are worse instead of better, albeit slowly. I can imagine he’s reluctant to post that kind of info more frequently than he is.

  6. Just wanted to say that you are such in inspiration to all of us. Never give up. Positive attitude, thoughts and love which is all around you is the greatest gift. God has alot in store for you. Your children and wife are so precious. There are people all over the world that are praying for you. Thank you for working so hard with this fight of your life. I do believe in miracles. I had a serious accident on June 7, 2006, I fell down a flight of stairs (14 steps), I went down the wrong door way, got a ride in a ambulance and an helicopter (don’t remember that). I had a subdural hemmorage in my brain. no broken bones. I am so thankful for all the doctors, nurses, helicopter pilots, emergency help employees. I am doing better, I had to quit my job, it could have been alot worse. Life is so precious. I think God everyday that I am alive, and ask him for his guidance. Hang in there, we need more researchers like you. God bless you and your family.

  8. I have been so anxious, checking in daily on his health update which suddenly stopped….we are all like his extended family and pray for him and care about his health as if he were our own….does anyone know how he is and what he is doing? Has he deteriorated suddenly? I keep him in my everyday thoughts and wish him God speed…..

  11. The problem is, now that he has had all this publicity, he doesn’t have anyone updating his site. Last time he updated was a month ago. My guess is he isn’t doing well, otherwise they would have posted something.

  12. Very disappointed to find out that what I thought was a July 08 was really pics from July 07. Thanks for setting me straight. What ever happened to the therapy with the “beads” they were going to put in….cutting edge medicine….was supposed to have no side effects and they were just waiting for him to get his blood pressure under control…..I think some of the posting are right. He did his own posts and is not in a position to continue. So sad.

  13. I really wish someone would post something to tell us how Randy is doing.
It is upsetting that his last post was a month ago.
I guess the website is not a priority now because his health has really declined. I feel so bad for his family.

  16. I was saddened to see the update this morning. It was updated by a friend because he is now too ill to do it himself. His book and lecture touched my life in so many ways. My heart is heavy today. He and his family will remain in my thoughts.

  23. My prayers are sent to you Jai, Randy’s mom and sister, and of course your children. Few people in life make a significant impact on thousand’s upon thousands of people, like Randy did with his positive, upbeat, winner attitude that he shared with the world via his book and lecture on the web. Randy found the rays of sunshine in a silver cloud, he fought he goof fight like “Don Quixote – the Man of LaMancha. I know that Randy’s work will continue to impact people for many years to come. GOD Bless you Jai, your three childern and Randy’s family. True success has been defined as “the number of people who are better off in the world, because you have lived.”Randy Pausch was a true success, for accomplishing his childhood dreams and making the world a better place.

  24. Dear Jai And Children

I just want to tell you my prayers are with you during this very difficult time. I know that you know that Randy did not want you to be sad but that will be a part of the grieving process. Randy was an awesome human being, son, husband, father and teacher and that part of him will live on forever!

While I know the Last Lecture was for your children I can’t tell you how much it changed my life and the lives of my co-workers after we all watched it. I am the mother of a special needs child and somedays were tough to get through but not anymore because he said it all when he said “it’s all about what you make of your life”. I am a strong person but still would sometimes feel sorry for my son Cody or even myself, but not anymore, thanks to your amazing husband Randy.

I have been praying for Randy and his family and will continue to do so. God will keep you strong and guide you in the right direction.

Give each of those beautiful children and hug and kiss for me.

    God Bless You,
    Cindy B.

  25. You are probably wondering why God would be so cruel and take a wonderful man, father, teacher, husband, brother, son. Well, did Randy make an impact in your life? Do you see life and death differently? Did you get hope through his Last Lecture? Then God did his job. He used Randy to make us see His Glory. God didn’t take him to be mean and cruel, but to give us hope and faith in His works. Randy realized this and was eager to get on the band wagon. He will be remembered for his words as he was dying. I only hope my life could make such an impact for others. probably not, but at least I know God has many wonderful things in store for those who believe and continue to have faith. Jai and the kids will be ok as they had Randy to learn from. Jai is a strong woman who had the great gift of being married to Randy. May we all be blessed and treat each other the way God intended us to.

  27. I came back from vacation to hear that Randy has died. He touched me with his courage and sense of humor. Heaven has certainly recieved a wonderful person who will continue to inspire all from there. I have given his book out to many as gifts however I will cherish my copy and reread it often. Albeit sad, his life will leave us remembering Tigger with a smile. We all need to go out and be Tiggers not Eyores.
