Connected from Home
I currently didn't had a net connection at home for the biggest reason that Mumbai requires you to move to a new house every 11 months if you don't own one, thus requiring you to go for a new connection each time you make a move. To add to it I was also unsure of with whom should I go for connection which.
Recently a got a new mobile connection with BPL Mobile. While going through their web portal came to know that they provide an unlimited usage for a fixed rental and even had a "per usage" plan with zero rental. Such a facility was never available with my previous operator Vodafone (still using one of their connection). So it came to my mind "what if I use GPRS for connecting to net using PC using bluetooth?".. bottleneck is that GPRS are slow connections and not comparable with broadband. Then I have never cared for speed as long as it does not let my efficiency down. Plus I can try it before going for unlimited usage plan and that too, since it doesn't involve any connection charges, can be closed at any time. So there was no harm in giving it a try.
I got the GPRS activated but the automatic settings sent to the handset were not sufficient to use it for connecting it from PC. Searching on net too didn't help. Today I called the BPL Mobile's technical team and got all the settings in place and now I can connect fine from my PC. I Will test this for a few days before going for Unlimited usage plan as that has to start in next billing cycle. And once I do it... the GPRS connection will certainly go for a stress test
