I appreciate Google for one thing that after it starts using new technologies, people, like me, get to know and start to learn about it. When I got my first account with gmail, I could not stop praising how JavaScript was used there in its best way. Earlier JavaScript was mostly seen being utilized for frills as mouse trails etc or for validation of form data. Google showed to the world the power of JavaScript. I am not just talking about the AJAX, but also about how the whole interface was designed allowing hot keys and other features driven by JavaScript.
