Five Things I wish Google was there for
//engtech has declared Group Writing Project and Contest #2: Five Things. This post is my submission for the same, where I discuss Five Things I wish Google was there for.
1. Each morning I waste a lot of time searching. Where's wallet? That's in the trousers which you wore yesterday... ok... but trouser is lying in the washing machine with nothing inside it... then that must be by the bedside or over Refrigerator or TV... ok found! socks ?... look inside the cupboard... not there... then search elsewhere and if don't find it better you get a used one from washing machine that stinks least... ok... Pen?... I don't know better do without it today!... How I wish If Google could have helped in these tasks!
2. And my brain! It still uses the old FAT16... I was trying to remember something but it seems that it's memory location is no longer in the FAT (deleted!), I hope it's not overwritten or cross-linked and could somehow undelete it... How I wish Google had crawled my brain giving me chance to search information there. And what's more Google seems to have infinite storage and it also keeps cache of things (sites), though not for long, those are deleted (closed)!!
Honestly, these are the two things that I wished Google was there for... But now that engtech genie is allowing five wishes why waste other three wishes... so here they are...
3. Why only my brain? Google should crawl everybody else's too, giving me chance to make a search as to know what other's think of me. Just start a search with "mindof:<him> relatedto:<me> [<keyword>]" and you are at it... and yes search results should have translate features too, as they might be thinking in other languages not known to me.
4. A few friends of mine have links with influential people. Why not get Google to tell me all those who link to them, and yes, I also wish that Google should show the PRs also in search results and allow searching in PR range as PR4..PR10 , making the syntax similar to "link:<him> [rank:<PR>] [gender:<Male|Female>]". Oh! I did not describe the last option in the syntax, it's necessary to get my work done, see how. Hi I need to do something that xyz can do, I know you are linked to him! Don't say no, you see I can tell your wife about your other links!
5. While the web has brought information across the globe to our fingertips, I wish, Google could help us search on what is happening in the neighborhood.
